The WoolGrown Project

What if plastics could be replaced in horticultural and outdoor planting applications?” At Field & Fleece, we saw an opportunity to harness the natural benefits of wool to do just that!

WoolGrown is a 100% felted wool fabric, grown and manufactured in Ontario. Wool is a naturally biodegradable material that could become a viable sustainable alternative to plastic-based growing fabrics. WoolGrown isn’t just environmentally friendly— it has the potential to contribute to soil health and become a positive farming input.

Waste Reduction

Driven by a desire to reduce waste and return to sustainable practices, we looked beyond conventional uses for wool and started exploring how this remarkable fibre could support the land.

We saw the challenges that gardeners, landscapers and ecological farmers face: the mountains of synthetic materials piling up, the demand for sustainable solutions that genuinely work, and the commitment to leaving the soil better than we found it.

Wool, a fibre often undervalued for its versatility, was the perfect answer. It’s durable, naturally water-retentive, temperature regulating and most importantly, fully biodegradable.

WoolGrown aims to help growers harness the natural power of wool to nourish their crops, protect the soil and farm sustainably. Our mission is simple: to replace plastics with a material as pure as the land itself—no waste, no harm, just the power of wool.

Got "waste wool" sitting aside? It’s not waste—it’s potential!

Wool isn’t just a by-product—it’s a powerhouse. It holds moisture, slowly releases nutrients, and improves soil health wherever it’s used.

Why let something valuable sit unused when it could work for you?

No waste. Just a better way forward.
